MCBF: Concert in the Park

Mission Statement

The mission of the Maplewood Community Betterment Foundation (MCBF) is to serve the residents, businesses and government by strengthening and promoting the welfare of the community.

What We Do

Every Effort Counts

As part of our mission, we see it as our duty to seek out projects that we think will help Maplewood as a whole. We have done a variety of activities through the years, some with varying degrees of visibility. It is our sincere hope to increase what we can do and improve our service to the community.

Here are just a few of our projects outlined below.

MCBF Scholarship Program

Scholarship & Citizenship Award Program

Every year, the MCBF identifies an MRH High School Senior who has demonstrated academic success, service to the community as well as economic need. We award a scholarship that assists the student with the expenses of higher education.

The MCBF also recognizes two MRH High School Juniors with a Citizenship Award. This award honors students who exemplify citizenship qualities such as leadership, teamwork and service to their community and neighbors.

MCBF Business Loan Program

Business Retail Loan Program

The MCBF offers a loan program available to qualifying Maplewood businesses. This loan is up to $25,000 and is granted to businesses that we believe will prove to be an asset to our community. We have helped businesses get started, make renovations and/or expand.

MCBF Landscaping and Beautification

Beautification Projects

In the past, the MCBF has worked on several beautification projects. Some are modest, some larger. We strive to make Maplewood beautiful when we find the opportunity. Often, these are done with members of the community to facilitate plantings or other efforts. A beautification project of the Marietta lot is scheduled for 2011.

Picture in the Park

Each September, the MCBF provides a free family movie that is shown at Ryan Hummert Memorial Park. The date changes each year so it will not conflict with an MRH High School sporting event.

Maplewood Summer Concert Series

Summer Concert Series

For over a decade, the MCBF has provided a Summer Concert Series in Maplewood. Concerts are free of charge and foster community spirit. The Concert Series has become a tradition for local families to enjoy time together and with neighbors. Concerts are held May thru August on the 4th Wednesday of the month from 6-8 pm at Ryan Hummert Memorial Park.

This is our Community.

This is our home and community. And we love it. If you believe in Maplewood like we do, please join us. We have volunteer opportunities available: mentoring, teaching, beautification projects, just to name a few. Let us know what you would like to do. The best place to start to change the world is often right in your own back yard.

Volunteer Opportunity Coordination

Throughout the year the MCBF receives requests for volunteers from nonprofits, residents and other entities. The scope of volunteer opportunities can range from providing community event support to assisting a local senior citizen with a chore. The MCBF has begun maintaining a list of individuals interested in volunteer opportunities within Maplewood. If you are interested in being put on the list, please fill out the Volunteer Interest Form and return to the MCBF Office. When a volunteer opportunity matches your interest, you will be notified.
